Carrot cake / Jel imate tortu od sargarepe?

Kod nas nedovoljno popularna ali sa druge strane svi su nekako culi za nju... Dovoljno je reci samo zeka, poslasticarnica i "jel da da je bljak" i sve vam je jasno :)



Not popular enough in Serbia, but I love it ever since I've tried it in the States. This is my version.

Torta od sargarepe / Carrot cake

U danasnjem receptu koristila sam integralno brasno i rezultat je bio fantastican (naravno da mozete zameniti integralno brasno obicnim, psenicnim, ukoliko zelite ali ovako je nekako zdravije). Brzo i lako se sprema a najvaznije - jako je ukusna. Odlicna uz jutarnju kafu i novine ili da je imate u frizideru za poneti, ukoliko kasnite na posao.

In today's recipe I've used whole wheat pastry flour and the result was amazing (if you like, you could use all-purpose flour, but it's kind of healthier this way). It's easy to make, very fast and it tastes great. Goes great with morning coffee or to have it in the fridge to grab it if you're late to work.

Sastojci / Ingredients

1 1/4 solje integralnog brasna / 1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 solje secera / 1/2 cups sugar
3 velike sargarepe / 3 large carrots, shredded
2 jajeta / 2 eggs
75 grama putera / 3/4 cup melted butter
saka oraha / handful of walnuts
1 kasicica praska za pecivo / 1 tsp baking powder
2 kasicice cimeta / 2 tsp cinnamon
prstohvat soli / pinch of salt
malo mleka / milk (just if your batter is to dry)

Frosting - kisela pavlaka, vanilin secer, cimet / sour cream, sugar, vanilla extract

Zagrejati rernu na 180 stepeni. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Za pocetak istopite puter i ostavite da se ohladi. Sargarepe narendajte i pomesajte sa jednom kasikom brasna, jer ce im to pomoci da se kasnije rasporede ravnomerno po celoj torti (moze da se desi da sva sargarepa padne na dno torte).

U jednoj ciniji pomesajte brasno, cimet, prasak za pecivo i so. U drugoj ciniji umutite jaja sa secerom. Kada se puter ohladi dodajte ga u ciniju sa jajima i zatim dodajte i sve suve sastojke i dobro izmesajte da se sve sjedini. Dodajte i sargarepu i orahe iseckane na komade. Ukoliko vam se ucini da vam je smesa previse suva dodajte nekoliko kasika mleka. Ulijte smesu u pleh podmazan puterom i pecite na 180 stepeni  nekih 30-tak minuta, dok torta ne dobije zlatno braon boju.

Za potpuni uzitak, pomesajte kiselu pavlaku sa jednom kesicom vanilinog secera i 2 kasicice simeta i premazite kolac. 

Melt butter and let it cool a little bit. In a bowl toss together carrots with 1 tbs of flour so you don't end up with all the carrots at the bottom of the cake.

In one bowl whisk together eggs and sugar. Add the butter and a mixture of all the dry ingredients. Add carrots and walnuts. Pour the butter into a sprayed pan and bake it for around 30 minutes or until it gets golden brown.

I made frosting a little bit different this time. Mix together sour cream or yogurt with 1 tsp of sugar, 1 tsp of vanilla extract and 2 tsp of cinnamon.
